International Conference to Be Held in Pokhara

TU-PNC, 31 May 2022 – The Department of English, Tribhuvan University Prithvi Narayan Campus, Pokahra has organized an international conference on 16-17 June 2022. The conference will be organized jointly with the Pokhara University Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Dhungepatan, Pokhara.

Prof. Dr. Abhi Subedi and Prof. Dr. Ammaraj Joshi will address the conference as keynote speakers. Prof. Subedi is the former chair of the Central Department of English, Tribhuvan University, Kirtipur and Prof. Joshi is currently serving as Vice-Chancellor for Far Western University, Mahendranagar.   

According to the source, the theme of the conference is “Natural and Cultural Heritage in South Asia,” which will cover a wide range of areas for research papers including muses and monuments, indigenous languages and literatures, rituals, religion and philosophy, tourism, environment and ecocriticism, cinema, performing and visual arts, and new media, communication and cyberculture.

Altogether 70 scholars from six countries will participate in the conference. They include scholars from Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Italy and China. Similarly, at least 13 different universities around the world will attend the conference.  

The conference will be held in the hybrid mode: face-to-face and virtual. At least 5 scholars from outside Nepal will attend the conference virtually.

The conference will be run for two days: the first day conference will be held at Prithvi Narayan Campus and the second day conference at Pokhara University. Both plenary and panel sessions will be run during the conference. They include two plenary sessions: inaugural session and closing session. There will at least be eight panel sessions to present and discuss the thematic areas.

The conference is financially supported by University Grants Commission (UGC) and Far Western University in association with Pokhara Multiple Campus, Kanya Campus and Janapriya Multiple Campus.
