Pre-Visit of PRT for the QAA Process of Prithvi Narayan Campus Held on 13-16 Sept 2018

TU-PNC, 16 September 2018 – The Peer Review Team (PRT) representing the Quality Assurance and Accreditation (QAA) Division of University Grants Commission, Nepal has completed its pre-assessment visit today.

The pre-visit team was led by the former Vice-Chancellor of Tribhuvan University Prof. Kamal Krishna Joshi. He is also the coordinator of the PRT to assess the campus for the institutional accreditation.

According to the source, the PRT is authorized by the UGC to assess any higher education institution in Nepal which requests the UGC for participation its in the QAA process.

The PRT’s pre-visit was scheduled on 13-16 September 2018. The pre-visit was led by Prof. Joshi that included other members such as Prof. Basu Dev Kafle, and QAAD staff Narayan Bhandari and Nabina Chaulagai. The visit was also attended by Member Secretary of UGC Prof. Dev Raj Adhikari who was at the opening ceremony on the first day of the visit.

During the visit, the team interacted with the stakeholders of the campus to discuss on various aspects of the institution. They included members of the Campus Management Committee, Executive Committee, and Standing Committee. Similarly, the team had also interactions with Head of Departments, Program Coordinators, Internal QA Committee members, teaching and non-teaching staff, and students.

Similarly, the team also had the campus tour on the third day of the visit to observe the infrastructure and other facilities provided by the campus.

At the closing ceremony, the team submitted its report to the campus administration for further reform in the campus and to be prepared for the final visit of the PRT. The report also consisted of recommendations for improvement of the institution. 

To participate in the QAA process, the campus had received LoI from UGC on 8 January 2018 and submitted the Self-Study Report (SSR) to UGC for its institutional assessment and accreditation on 14 June 2018.

According to the QAA/Reform Unit of Prithvi Narayan Campus source, the final visit of PRT is proposed to be held in November this year.
