Dept of Political Science Organized an Interaction Program on the Semester System

TU-PNC, 9 Feb. 2018 – The Department of Political Science under Prithvi Narayan Campus, Pokhara organized an interaction program on “Semester System in Master’s Programs of Prithvi Narayan Campus” on 8 February 2018 in collaboration with Sayapatri Samaj, Kaski. The second series of interaction was held with the administrative staff of the campus after the first interaction with the faculty members of the campus on 6 Feb. 2018.

The second series of interaction program was chaired by Dept Head Dr. Uma Nath Baral and the welcome speech was delivered by Bijay Aryal, a Faculty at the Dept of Population Studies.

Speaking at the program, Dept Head Dr. Baral said that although Tribhuvan University not fully prepared to implement the semester system in its campuses across the country, all stakeholders should work together to make it successful. 

At the same program, Chief Administrator Prem Lal Baral said, “In the changed context, administrative staff of the campus should be given proper training and the provision of Golden Handshake should be provided to those who want to quit their job voluntarily.

Speaking about the library, the librarian Kishor Subedi expressed his concern over the serious shortage of efficient staff to run the library. Similarly, a staff at the library Ram Bikram Rana said that there are serious problems of library management due to the increase in the student users day by day. He added that the campus administration should resolve the problem of the shortage of staff at the library.

Pramila Tajhya who is serving as administrator for the BALLB Program said that the success of a program depends on the efficiency of the Program Director who looks after the program. For instance, the BALLB Program is running successfully, she added. 

Likewise, Store Keeper Navaraj Bastola said that the implementation of the semester system will increase the responsibility of the Department Heads and suggested that the administrative mechanism should be restructured and staff should be trained.

Participants who expressed their concern over the semester system were Ganesh Sharma, Keshab Poudel, Sushila Gurung, Shyam Tamrakar, Chandra Raman Parajuli, Mahesh Paneru, Balaram Pahari, Nirajan Thapa, Shashikala Adhikari, Gyan Bahadur Gurung, Chandra Bahadur Khadka, Dhan Bahadur Gurung, Purna Bahadur Khatri, Guna Devi Rana and Ramji Pandey. They spoke about its challenges, and gave advice for the successful implementation of the semester system within the campuses under Tribhuvan University. 

While delivering the closing remarks, Dept Head Dr. Baral opined that Prithvi Narayan Campus is the largest among the campuses of Tribhuvan University, the campus should try hard to implement the semester system for the betterment of the future of the campus.

The interaction program was hosted by a Faculty at the Dept of Political Science Girdhari Subedi who informed that the third series of the interaction will be held with the students of the campus.
